SUPPORT WATERMANS 100%

Watermans opened in 1984 to provide first-class cultural opportunities for people in West London. Over the last 25 years Watermans has been unqiue in enriching the cultural fabric of the life of local people.

The first performer on the Watermans stage was Ravi Shankar, the legendary sitar player and Beatles guru. Since then a wide array of performers have passed through Watermans on the way to glittering careers.

Today Watermans perpetuates the mission that it was given when it opened. Watermans continues to provide opportunities for new and upcoming artists who may become household names in the future. It provides opportunities for young people to dance, perform and show their work. And it provides opportunities for minority and disadvantaged groups.

We work closely with local schools, colleges and universities as well as youth groups and Hounslow Council's Youth Team. We also provide a growing number of opportunities for people with Learning Disabilities and we are working with the West London Mental Health Trust to extend the opportunities for people with mental health issues.

Watermans has also expanded its cultural footprint by undertaking projects in neighbouring boroughs and the wider London area. This season for the first time we have contributed to the programming at Harrow Arts Centre, an extension of our Signs of the City exhibition is showing in the Iberico centre in Central London and we shall be touring the London Mix exhibition in the new year. The film of the making of London Mix is available to view on networking sites like YouTube as well as BBC Radio  London and is being shown in a number of different locations across the city.

2009 will mark the 25th anniversary of the opening of Watermans. We hope Watermans will be as valued and vital a resource to the West London community in the future, as it was when it opened.

We still need your support. It helps a lot if you elect to receive programme information by e-mail. Just go to the section headed CONTACT on this website and click on MAILING LIST. Our aim is to keep Watermans alive and well and to provide an ever more vibrant programme of cultural activities for every part of our community!
