WATERMANS IS A COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE THAT RELIES ALMOST EQUALLY FOR FUNDING ON ITS BOX OFFICE INCOME, SUPPORT FROM HOUNSLOW COUNCIL AND PROJECT FUNDING FROM ARTS COUNCIL, LONDON, LONDON COUNCILS AND OTHERS
Over the last 4 years Watermans has been carefully managed to ensure that it covers its costs and makes a modest profit each year. This has enabled the organistion to expand its programme progressively every year. Watermans programme currently touches over 100,000 people every year.
Our main funders who help us to do this are:
- Hounslow Council
- London Councils
- Arts Council, London
In addition we are supported by
- UK Film Council who have helped us to join the National Digital Film Network
- DMC&S and Sport England who fund some of our dance workshops
- The Baring Foundatiion who support our work with marginalised groups
- Ealing & Brentford Consolidated Charities who support our work with local communities
We have also formed a partnership with Arts Education, London to provide workshops for young people and Watermans plays a leading role in the Hounslow Summer Uni Network that provides free activities for children in the Summer school holidays and this programme is supported by the Jack Pechey Foundation and the London Challenge
In recognition of the growing challenges and in order to continue to expand we are in the final stages of our application to Futurebuilders for a substantial loan to help develop our capability to win additional funding.
The current arrangments we have with our main funders run through until 2011. However we are not complacent. The current economic situation will place everyone under great financial pressure for many years to come. We are determined that Watermans will continue to prosper and to do this we must continue to pursue new sources of income and take responsibility for generating the income needed to secure our future.
