THE ARTS COUNCIL HAS DECIDED TO CUT OUR GRANT COMPLETELY***THE ARTS COUNCIL ADMIT THAT WATERMANS APPEAL WAS THE SUBJECT OF FIERCE DEBATE ***DESPITE THE LACK OF A CONSENSUS THE ARTS COUNCIL REFUSED TO REINSTATE THE GRANT***THE OBJECTIONS OF HOUNSLOW COUNCIL, THE GLA AND OUR SUPPORTERS HAVE ALL BEEN IGNORED***LAWYERS ARE AMAZED BY THE ARTS COUNCIL'S RESPONSE***WE HAVE ISSUED A COMPLAINT AND WILL TAKE THE ARTS COUNCIL TO COURT IF NECESSARY TO RESOLVE THIS DISPUTE *** MEANWHILE ITS BUSINESS AS USUAL
We'd like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us. The support from all quarters has been overwhelming and it has helped hugely during a very difficult period.
The comedy programme is attracting the best audiences yet. The children's programme is as popular as ever. And the Cinema continues to go from strength to strength, helped by the terrific season of current films.
The objective is achieve 20X20 - 20 ways to earn or save £20,000. With the reserves we have built up, if Watermans can continue the success of 2007 in winning funding projects and deliver 10 of these opportunities this year and 10 next year, the fundamentals of the programme can be retained.
Director Jan Lennox said "We have built up a strong team of creative and committed people. We are determined to try and keep it together. We are going to carry on doing what we are good at, as this represents the best chance of delivering the quality product that will warrant the additional support we need, so we can continue to provide arts and culture experiences for Hounslow and the whole West London community"
