As part of the London Councils Cultural Activity Programme, Watermans and motiroti have joined forces to develop London Mix, a new participatory public art project. London Mix brings together five visual/digital artists to work with 300 young people aged between 13 and 19 years, from schools, colleges, clubs and community groups in Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond.
With the spotlight on London in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games, we have invited young Londoners to explore their local neighbourhoods and create animations, films, photographs and digital media reflecting their diverse perspectives and shared experiences of life in West London.
London Mix artists, Emma Hart, Charlotte Hollinshead, Harold Offeh, Raksha Patel, Louisa Stathopoulou and Daniel Wallis, have worked in collaboration with groups to produce an exciting range of art works which reveal fresh insights and celebrate a wealth of creativity, enterprise and humour.
Filmmaker Steve Folorunsho has been following the work in progress, interviewing artists and participants throughout. Steve has created a 15-minute documentary film that is being screened as part of the final exhibition at Watermans and will also be available to view and download on the motiroti and Watermans websites.
