Exhibitions | I Am A Believer
Showing: Tue 1st May - Sun 24th Jun
Artist: Reza Aramesh
In I Am A Believer, Reza Aramesh exploits the endless possibilities that lie outside the range of what is considered a “normal” situation. The artist manipulates it to such an extent that it becomes intensely dreamlike and unreal. He refers to the unstable nature of any culture and suggests that reality is intrinsically ambivalent.
The particular group of men performing the Changing the Guard renders a symbol of protection of the monarchy surreal and unbelievable. It demonstrates what would happen when those who are usually only the spectators of these ceremonies become the ones who carry them out.
Reza Aramesh was born in Iran. He moved to London when he was sixteen where he studied Science and later Art and he completed an MA Fine Art at Goldsmiths. He currently lives and works in London.
