Exhibitions | Escape into Life - Bahar Yamini-Sharif

Showing: Wed 2nd Dec - Sat 16th Jan

Bahar Yamini-Sharif was born in Tehran in 1952. As a child Bahar travelled a lot and developed a love for colour and texture as well as a great fascination with culture. She began her education in Iran, studying Child Psychology at Meli Univeristy in Tehran. She showed a great interest in the arts and studied it privately under the mastership of Aydin Aghdashloo and Parvaneh Etemadi. During 1979, a very bitter-sweet year for Bahar and her family, she gave birth to twin daughters. Not only was this the year in which the Islamic revolution took place, but it was also the year prior to the 8 year Iran/Iraq war. Bahar moved to England in 1988, where she found the freedom to study the arts, her true passion. Inspired by Persian poetry, in particular Sohrab Sepehri, as well as Iranian culture, Bahar completed degrees in Fine Art and Sculpture at both The London Institute and Middlesex University.

Bahar Yamini-Sharif is now a full-time artist working from her studio in London. She enjoys working with water colour and oil, bringing the paper to life with strong and vibrant colours, very often inspired by her Middle-Eastern heritage and her travels.

There will be  Private View of this exhibition on Thur 3 December at 6.30pm. Please email info@watermans.org.uk for your invitation
