Dance Films on Screen

Chinese Shadows by Mei Mei 2'30 min 2008

Dancing in parks, gardens and hills of London this movie strives to explore Chinese aesthetics and identities.

Composition in Black & White by Anais Leroux  3'06 min 2008

In this short movie two men dance within frames on a metronome rhythm. Their movements are ruled by the basic rhythm of the metronome. However, they are also influencing it and creating a richer soundtrack.

Don't Stop Me Now by Sophie Baxter 3'43 min 2008

This is a short film exploring the fun and excited  side of classical ballet.

I Wish I Were by Anna Dionello 3'23 min 2006

This short video explores the concept of the lack of presence in human life. All what man possesses is temporary. In I Wish I Were, a woman dances while dreaming. She is not a trained dancer but she dreams of dancing. This work reveals a loss of sense of reality and ability to imagine ones self as another person.

The Jaffaman by Oliver Ashton 9'30 min 2003

A futuristic dance travelogue of a b-boy's journey through life. Shot in a supafly style that fuses late 70s New York with today's London, the film features a searing soundtrack by former Cookie Crew member and hip hop don, DJ Biznizz. Impressive choreography from contemporary dance maestro Robert Hylton whose fancy foot-work saves his soul from the devil.
