Take Part | Take Me to London!
Showing: Fri 1st May - Sun 1st Jul
"Take me to London!" is a large-scale creative and media project which hundreds of young people can participate in to develop new skills in a wide range of film-making and digital photography and can also take part in the 3-year build to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
View Take Me To London in a map or on YouTube to see what we have done so farThis project also enables young people to explore several parts of London which have links with the Games such as Wembley, Wimbledon and once completed, the new stadium and Olympic Park
One major outcome of this project is to increase awareness of and interest in the Games and what it means for London
*** We are currently looking for groups of young people who would like to take part in the third phase of the project in 2011, who come from the boroughs of Hounslow, Hillingdon, Harrow, Richmond, Kingston and Ealing. If you are a group leader or teacher interested in joining this project or would like more information please contact Nadia our Head of Participative Arts Development on 020 8232 1033 or by email nadia@watermans.org.uk***
Each year, the project includes:
- A programme of workshops in animation, sound, digital photography, film and video. Each participating group will, on average, meet for 5 x 3hour sessions, plus 1 day trip for the groups to visit their chosen Olympics venue or site. At the end, each group would have made a short film about their location.
- The work produced will then be on display at a major exhibition at Watermans in the Gallery.
- Participants will upload their films onto YouTube and the Watermans website. The videos will also be available on Google Maps as a link to each venue.
- There will also be a DVD of all the films made each year available to be shown on Live Sites, film festivals, community/public spaces, tourism websites etc.
- The work will be shown in the EXPO Gallery at Heathrow Terminal 5
This is the dream project for every young person living in London as build up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Take me to London is funded by London Councils as part of its 2012 Cultural programme
