About this event

Journey into the unconscious mind as Interactive Theatre and Virtual Reality combine in “an awesome virtual reality dance experience” (The Observer). After an international tour, Watermans is bringing this exciting, immersive production back to London for one night only.

“What happens when the desires hidden in the dark corners of your mind are suddenly brought to light? What if they have been the driving force of your choices all this while?”

WHIST tells the fictional story of a family – characters inspired by Sigmund Freud's real-life case studies – and their dreams, fears and desires unveiled through physical theatre. Audiences are invited on a journey into the unconscious mind, where their instincts will guide them to see the story from different perspectives through a virtual reality experience.

This mesmerising hour-long experience merges Physical Theatre, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, in an environment that blurs the boundaries between consciousness and unconsciousness, reality and fiction, the physical and the virtual. Through art and 3D sound installation coupled with cinematic and interactive 360° film, viewers will be immersed in a surreal world of unfolding dreams and fears.

“An innovative UK dance company” TimeOut Sydney

Please note! This is a promenade standing performance. Audiences are advised to wear comfortable footwear and will be required to wear a Samsung Gear VR headset and headphones during the performance. Belongings will be dropped off in the cloak room provided.

Part of our Spring Friday Nights Live season.
