About this event
Acclaimed clarinettist Arun Ghosh makes a welcome return to Watermans. Twice awarded Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Arun is a leading light on the UK Jazz scene, enthralling audiences and listeners with his uniquely expressive clarinet style, vibrancy and musical spirit. Following the release of new album Seclused in Light, and a sold out UK tour, the British-Asian clarinettist and composer has assembled a stellar line-up of musicians from London’s exciting scene, featuring MOBO award-winning pianist Zoe Rahman and her brother, saxophonist Idris Rahman.
Described by Pandit Ravi Shankar as a “natural born improviser”, Arun’s sound fluidly incorporates jazz, World, UK beats and South Asian influences, and he is considered a renowned innovator of modern IndoJazz. With soaring melodies, soul-searching improvisations, hypnotic basslines and driving rhythms, Arun Ghosh’s shows are always special, spontaneous and joyous occasions; a celebration of music, life and togetherness.
