About this event

We continue our series of screenings and talks exploring gems of Polish cinema, hosted by Polish cinema expert Michael Brooke. We screen the film at Watermans’ cinema and then Michael hosts an online talk and discussion the following evening where you can come and hear more about the film, and share your own thoughts. The film is charged at usual Watermans’ ticket prices, and the online discussion is free. But please make sure you book tickets for both.

The next film up for discussion is Eastern that is set in a dystopian world where two families living in a housing estate have been entangled in a blood vendetta for many years and are reaching breaking point..

Programme supported by Film Hub London, managed by Film London. Proud to be a partner of the BFI Film Audience Network, funded by the National Lottery. www.filmlondon.org.uk/filmhub

How It Works

Book your tickets to watch the film Eastern in our cinema and book a ticket to join the film talk if you would like to. Both can be found in the ‘Book Now’ link on this page.

PLEASE NOTE WE WILL NOT BE SHOWING THE FILM AT THE DISCUSSION ON WED 26 JAN SO YOU NEED TO WATCH IT THE DAY BEFORE ON TUES 25 JAN, 7PM IN OUR CINEMA.

Don't worry if you're no Zoom expert: it's very simple. We will send you a link by 5pm on the day of the event, and our friendly box office team will be available from 7.30pm to help you get online if you have any problem at all.

About Michael Brooke

Michel Brook will host the online talk. Michael is a freelance writer specialising in central/Eastern European cinema. He regularly hosts talks for the Polish Cultural Institute as well as being a contributor to the book Polish Cinema Now! (2010).

Set aside the Ennio Morricone-homaging soundtrack and Eastern isn't as much "western" as it is Greek.
