About this event

In our final online French Impressions Jon will be looking at Celine Sciamma's Petite Maman. One of France's most innovative and accomplished directors Sciamma has created a real surprise with this film and Jon will be teasing out what makes her work so special.

Petite Maman (U)

The much-anticipated latest treasure from Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Girlhood), Petite Maman is a sublime modern fairytale about the quiet wonder of mother-daughter relationships. After the death of her beloved grandmother, eight-year-old Nelly meets a mysterious friend in the woods. Together they embark on a fantastical journey of discovery which helps Nelly come to terms with this newfound loss.

Winner of the San Sebastián International Film Festival 2021 – Audience Award also featured at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival
