About this event

Enter the musical velvet world of cabaret in the 1920s for an evening of poetic jazz and aerial circus. The audience are surrounded by a mixture of sultry songs and sophisticated aerial choreography. Finnish aerialist Ilona Jäntti and singer-songwriter Aino Venna have created a unique and minimalist cabaret-esque night that will linger in your memory for months to come.

About the performers

Aerialist Ilona Jäntti studied circus in Stockholm and contemporary dance at Laban Centre in London obtaining a master's degree in
choreography. Jäntti has collaborated with a diverse range of circus, dance and theatre companies and venues including Shakespeare’s Globe and Royal Opera House in the UK and Cirkus Cirkör in Sweden. Many of her performances have a strong site-specific or site-responsive aspect and she has been a resident artist at V&A Museum of Childhood in 2010-2012 and at Helsinki City Winter Garden since 2013. In 2016 she was given the annual “Sirkuksen Lumo” award by Finnish Circus Information Centre as recognition for work done in the field of Finnish circus.

Aino Venna is a Finnish composer and vocalist with extensive multi-artistic work experience in Finland and France. Venna is an entrepreneur with ambitions especially in the fields of music, film, radio and modern circus.
