About this event

Write using artificial intelligence as your muse!

How do machines see the world differently from us? How would a machine describe the world we can see? In this free drop-in workshop led by artist Nye Thompson, discover what happens when you work with Artificial Intelligence to create a short piece of descriptive writing.

Taking place in the gallery, as part of Nye's exhibition CKRBT, you will be able to watch and listen to machines describing the world in real-time. You can even get them to describe you.

Both the workshop and exhibition form part of Nye's ongoing project The Seeker. The Seeker is a proto Artificial Intelligence. It travels the world, observing it virtually through compromised surveillance cameras. It uses machine-learning algorithms to describe its visions in words.

During the session you'll create a piece of writing using a combination of the things that the Seeker has identified in the images its seen on its travels, suggestions from a specially trained predictive text editor and your own words. Take home a postcard with your virtual collaboration afterwards.

For younger children there'll also be the opportunity to identity objects in an image and compare what they identified with what the Seeker saw in the same image.

Suitable for adults and children from 10 upwards but younger children are also welcome.

This is a free event and open to all, so no ticket is required.
