About this event

Award-winning musical character comedy from Sarah-Louise Young and Michael Roulston, creators of Roulston & Young, Julie Madly Deeply and Cabaret Whore.

Funny, tragic and compelling, Je Regrette! is the story of La Poule Plombée, a French singer tortured by jealousy and unrequited love.

Propped up by her hen-pecked pianist Mumu, she weaves her darkly comic tale with beautiful original music and stunning vocals.

Je Regrette! was a smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, winning The Stage Award and an Argus Angel Award.

About the Artists
Sarah-Louise Young and Michael Roulston have been writing partners for twelve years, working mainly in character-based cabaret. Their award-winning work has been performed internationally including New York, Toronto, Kuala Lumpur, Berlin and the prestigious Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

They were selected by BEAM to present their new work-in-progress musical, The Most Assassinated Woman In The World, which was shortlisted for the Stiles & Drew Mentorship Prize. They were recently invited to showcase a song from it at Adam Lenson’s Signal series at the Hospital Club.

They won Best Musical Variety Act in the London Cabaret Awards and were named one of Time Out's Top Ten Cabaret Acts. Their 2016 Edfringe hit Je Regrette! won them The Edinburgh Stage Award and along with Roulston & Young: Songs For Lovers (And Other Idiots) enjoyed sold out runs at Live At Zedel in Piccadilly.

As well as their international successes, they appear regularly on the London cabaret scene, singing in venues such as Café de Paris, Hippodrome Theatre and The Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall.

Previously, their four critically acclaimed Cabaret Whore shows have sold out the Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre and their production about the life of Julie Andrews, Julie Madly Deeply, transferred to the West End after its triumphant Australian and UK tours.

As well as writing for themselves, they have contributed original work to the Terror Season at the Soho Theatre and Southwark Playhouse and have written songs with numerous acts, including Marcel Lucont, Lili La Scala, Ophelia Bitz, Clementine Living Fashion Doll and TO&ST winner, Lynn Ruth Miller. They also collaborated with Emmy nominated Fascinating Aida on their Cheap Flights tour, in which Sarah-Louise guested.
