About this event

Movement and imagination come together in this family workshop inspired by the poem 'Shadow Boy', for children aged 6+ and their parents/carers.

“Shadow boy's as shy as they come.

Dark as charcoal,

thin as air,

he tiptoes at the heels of his friends

or lingers

patiently

under trees…”

A creative movement and craft activity for families with children aged 6 and over, with artist Emily Jenkins inspired by the poem 'Shadow Boy' by Kate Wakeling, from award-winning book Moon Juice.

You'll have lots of fun and quality time together in this workshop: dancing together and sharing thoughts inspired by the poem 'Shadow Boy'. Don't worry if you've never danced before, this workshop will be fun and exciting whether you can dance or not!

Emily has worked within participatory dance for 9 years and specialises in the area of dance and health. She currently works with English National Ballet, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Dance Network Association and works with adults and children to introduce them to creative movement and dance.

Please note that this is a family workshop so all participants require a ticket.

Shadow Boy is taken from the award-winning book Moon Juice by Kate Wakeling, illustrated by Elina Braslina. You can see more about the book or purchase it here.
