About this event

Every year, Hounslow’s communities come together to light up the dark nights of winter. Throughout the autumn, people all over the borough take part in workshops to create stunning lanterns made of paper and willow.

Then everyone comes together for a beautiful lantern parade on Hounslow High Street and for the switch-on of the lights in Hounslow town centre. This finale event takes place on Saturday 23 November at 6.30 pm. The parade starts outside Thakers on Holloway Street (Holloway Street is a side street off Hounslow High Street, by Specsavers). The parade ends at Bell Square.

Short Breaks families can take part in either of 2 lantern-making workshops.

SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER

Lantern-making workshops at 11.00 am or 2.00 pm. Each workshop lasts 2 hours.

The workshops will be in the Dance Studio, West Thames College, London Road, Isleworth, London TW7 4HS.

Come and join a workshop with fabulous local artists, Art Jar. You will make a lantern made of willow and paper, and decorate it. The lantern is then fitted with a small lamp for carrying in the parade event.

The lantern-making workshops last 2 hours.Participants will be sitting on chairs or using their wheelchair as appropriate. All materials are provided.

The workshop happens twice, so you can come at either 11.00 am – 1.00 pm, or at 2.00 – 4.00 pm. Both workshops are the same, so please just book whichever time suits you best.
