About this event

This course will enable you to learn how to use the beautiful transparent medium of watercolour. This material is particularly suited to capturing the natural environment and its subjects, the location of the studio at the Art Centre being ideally situated on the river. Guidance will be given on a range of techniques and subjects. The course will begin by developing core drawing & painting skills, exploring shapes and the use of tone in painting, colour mixing, laying washes and building up a composition in water colour. The classes are designed to include some experimental technique, whilst learning the skill of traditional painting. I will initially supply paint, brushes, palettes and watercolour paper, but you will need to acquire your own materials as the course proceeds. Advice will be given on where and how to purchase materials.
