About this event
This free online talk with artists Dolly Sen and Christopher Samuel will explore the power of art to highlight issues around access as a form of activism.
This event is part of our exhibition What You Do Not See, which uncovers what it’s like to live with a hidden disability.
Access can be physical, emotional, social and cultural – and lack of access can often be hidden from mainstream view. But, what happens when artists use their practice as a form of activism to highlight these issues?
Find out at this special CPP Hounslow event with two of the artists who feature in the exhibition, Christopher Samuel and Dolly Sen. They will discuss how they each use their work to inform, engage, inspire and challenge. There will be a chance to take part in the discussion, and to ask the artists questions.
Christopher Samuel is a multidisciplinary artist that makes work about identity and what identity means for him. This could mean things that contribute to the way we act, speak, dress, feel and the reasons why. He makes work using print, photography, installation, illustration and sculptural works.
Dolly Sen is a writer, filmmaker, artist, performer and activist. She has exhibited as an artist and performed internationally, and her films have been shown worldwide, including at the Barbican in London. More recently she has been working on her Section 136 project. Section 136 is a radical mental health art-action programme where madness is questioned, and institutional monsters are confronted using art, love, rage and sheep.
This event will be close captioned. If you have any additional access requirements, please let us know when you book.
