About Watermans

What is Watermans?

Watermans is now closed ahead of its planned move to a new building. For nearly 40 years it has been West London’s arts centre where visitors enjoyed independent and international cinema, children’s and family events, theatre and contemporary new media art. Hounslow Arts Trust Limited continues to exist, programming its outdoor performance programme at Bell Square as well as other community activities. across the borough of Hounslow. The trustees and staff are now working with London Borough Hounslow and Arts Council England to re-open in a new building in the centre of Brentford.

What Else Can I Do?

The arts centre was located on the riverside at Brentford, just off the High Street and its facilities included a cinema, theatre, gallery and studio spaces, as well as The Guru, its Indian restaurant and bar.  Next door you can  find Watermans Park, where visitors can find a relaxing open green space with a children’s play area. Hounslow Arts Trust and the Watermans team are focused on delivering events such as Bell Square, Hounslow’s outdoor performance venue.

How is Watermans Funded?

The organisation receives grant funding from Arts Council England and London Borough Hounslow.

Watermans is now closed but its offices can be found on High Street, Brentford in between Brentford and Kew Bridge overland stations. Parking is easy as Watermans has its own affordable car park, which remains open.  It is situated within easy reach of Chiswick, Ealing, Richmond and Twickenham. All of Waterman’s spaces can be hired for private and commercial use, perfect for theatre, comedy, exhibitions, conferences, weddings and parties.

New Building

Impression of the New Watermans Building

Watermans is West London’s leading arts producer. Watermans has closed the arts centre at 40 high Street ahead of its move to a new building in the centre of Brentford. Hounslow Arts Trust Ltd is working with London Borough Hounslow and partners to create the new Watermans.

Hounslow Arts Trust will still own the Watermans brand and will continue to plan the relocation to a new building, working with London Borough Hounslow and Arts Council England to ensure Hounslow has a world class arts venue in Brentford. In the meantime Watermans continues to programme outdoor theatre and performance at Bell Square, Hounslow and develop new media art projects as part of Artcastt4D.

Keep in touch with the plans for the new building by remaining on the Watermans mailing list for future updates.
