ABOUT CPP HOUNSLOW’S WORK WITH HOUNSLOW’S POLISH COMMUNITIES
Our work with the Polish community in Hounslow is a vital part of the CPP Hounslow programme. Polish communities make up the third largest ethnic minority group within Hounslow. Despite this, there has historically been a lack of engagement from the Polish community in the mainstream arts and culture offers within the borough. CPP Hounslow made the decision to find out how we could better engage with and support Hounslow’s Polish Communities.
This has resulted in a long-term collaboration with local residents and groups, including Polish British Social Integration Club Wawel and Polish Clan Association. Through listening, engaging with and supporting these groups we ensure local Polish residents are able to take an active role in shaping projects, from initial ideas to final delivery, ensuring that activity is rooted in community priorities.
Recent projects have included a talent showcase in Feltham, dance classes in Hounslow and a range of activity as part of UK-Poland Season 2025. You can find out more about upcoming activity for UK-Poland Season 2025 here, exploring Polish folklore through storytelling and craft .
‘Thank you Wawel for organising the amazing event, I had fun performing and I had lots of fun in taking part in dance workshop. The atmosphere was great, I definitely will take part in the next event, I can’t wait!’ – Ida, a performer at the Feltham Talent Showcase organised by Wawel.
At the heart of CPP Hounslow is the belief that communities should not just participate in the arts, but lead them. This principle is already being demonstrated by Polish community groups in Hounslow who are independently shaping cultural activity from the ground up. Through their own events, festivals and creative projects, these groups are setting a strong example of community-led cultural programming.
CPP Hounslow is proud to champion this community leadership. By providing resources, space and strategic collaboration, we aim to amplify the work already being done and ensure it has room to grow.
‘Thank you, Creative People and Places, for enriching our lives with art, culture, and unforgettable memories. Your humility and dedication inspire us all. 🙏🏻✨ #Gratitude #CommunityArt #Hounslow’ – Nick Kukaj
