Local Advisory Groups

We, as a group, have achieved incredible things, and the events and classes that the LAG have brought into fruition, with local residents’ input, has been nothing short of inspiring

ABOUT CPP HOUNSLOW’S LOCAL ADVISORY GROUPS

Each area in Hounslow has a distinct local character and we know residents are best placed to determine what they want to see in their local area. Therefore, since we started in 2015 CPP Hounslow has supported four Local Advisory Groups (LAGs) made up of local people who live, work or have a connection to the area and a passion for shaping its future.

Each group represent, listen to and consult with their community. They then take the lead on developing and delivering creative activities and events in their local area.

The four LAGs are based in Feltham, Hounslow Central, Heston & Cranford and Brentford. No special experience is needed to become a member of a LAG, just a love for your area and a willingness to get stuck in. LAG members bring a range of experience, skill and insight through their knowledge and passion for their local area. People from a whole range of backgrounds are welcome – in fact, that’s what makes our advisory groups so special. In return, you’ll find a welcoming community of neighbours, plenty of support to make your ideas reality, and perhaps an opportunity to learn something new.

Each of CPP Hounslow’s LAGs has different aims, unique plans, and a distinct local character and personality. Some have moved on from their name as ‘Local Advisory Group’ and taken on their own identity. Find out more below.

Brentford Local Advisory Group (BLAG)

BLAG have focused their activity around showcasing and celebrating the local creative talent in Brentford. This has included delivering programmes and workshops to introduce residents to new creative creative skills and build confidence. The group have developed an event called This Is Brentford, which is becoming an established annual event of amateur talent in Brentford. Using a open-mic style set up, hosted at the Musical Museum, the event took place again this year and the group are already working on developments for 2025!

BLAG currently meet monthly. Get in touch with Izzie if you’re interested in joining or hearing more about their work at cpphounslow@watermans.org.uk

A few years ago Feltham Local Advisory group renamed themselves as Feltham Local Activities Group (FLAG). They have been developing and delivering ‘Feltham Fete’ a Summer (and in 2023, a winter!) fete that takes place in Feltham. The fete is open to everyone in Feltham and offers something to do, something to see and something to take away – all for free!

In May 2017, the Hounslow Local Advisory Group established TW3 Creative Space on Hounslow high street, with the tag line – ‘You can make it, try it, do it!’

Since then, each year the group programme creative activities to take place monthly throughout the summer. This has included steel pan workshops facilitated by The Steel Pan Agency; recipe sharing; storytelling and the chance to make an interactive installation with The Junk Orchestra.
