TW3 Creative Space

You can make it, try it, do it!

TW3 Creative Space was developed by the Hounslow Central Local Advisory Group (LAG), one of four LAGs established by Creative People and Places Hounslow. The LAG is made up of people who live, work or have a vested interest in the local area.  With the support of the Community Arts Worker (CAW) the LAG programmes the Arts and Cultural activities for their local area. Having developed local activities for the 2016 programme of national events, such as Get Creative Festival, Big Dance Bus and Fun Palaces, the group identified that they wanted to focus on and challenge people’s perception of the High Street. The group worked with The Brick Box, an artist-led Community Interest Company with a socially engaged, place based practice, to programme events and activities that would engage a passing audience. The LAG formed the name TW3 Creative Space with the tag line “You can Make it, Try it, Do it” to help give the project its own identity.

The programme of events was kicked off in May 2017 with the theme of music and included various activities for participants of all ages to try on Hounslow High Street. This included steel pan workshops facilitated by The Steel Pan Agency, an opportunity to sing along with Hounslow Community Choir and interactive installation by The Junk Orchestra. This was followed in June with a Visual Arts focus and in July with recipe sharing and storytelling. In 2021, TW3 Creative Space expanded into the Treaty Centre, making use of the former Debenhams storefront for workshops and installations.

Participants have said:

“Excellent and included positive support for harmonious living in our diverse community of communities.”

“Love all the events that have popped up over the last year.”

“It’s a great idea to get involved in such cultural events.”

Following the success of this model the Hounslow LAG will continue to programme under the TW3 Creative Space banner – watch this space!
