Visual Arts Programme

ABOUT THE VISUAL ARTS PROGRAMME

The CPP Hounslow Visual Arts Programme places high quality exhibitions in a network of London Borough of Hounslow Libraries and in local cafes and community spaces. The programme focuses particularly on the West of the Borough which has been identified as having less access to arts and culture provision and spaces.

The programme is curated by the Hounslow Exhibitions Group (HEG), a panel of local people, artists and library staff who select and curate the programme, supported by a Visual Arts Producer.

The Touring Libraries Programme and Hounslow Exhibitions Group

Hounslow Exhibitions Group commission and produce exhibitions that tour six of Hounslow’s local libraries: Bedfont, Cranford, Feltham, Hanworth, Heston and Hounslow. The group develop the exhibition theme and artistic direction, including commissioning artists. You can find out more about both previous and current exhibitions here.

Hounslow Exhibitions Group are volunteers who live, work or are connected to the borough. They meet monthly, online, and are supported by the Visual Arts Producer to lead the development and curation of the touring exhibitions programme. No prior experience is required to join the group, just an interest in introducing new audiences to arts and culture!

If you’d like to find out more about joining the group, get in touch at Creative People and Places Hounslow cpphounslow@watermans.org.uk.

Community Galleries

The Visual Arts Programme also curates a network of Community Gallery Spaces that showcase local organisations and artists. Currently, these spaces include Beavers Hub, Brentford Library Foyer, downstairs at Hounslow House and Salisbury Cafe. If you are a local artist or organisation and would like to exhibit your work in these spaces, please register your interest here and our Visual Arts Producer will be in touch.

Workshops and artist talks

Alongside the exhibitions programme, the Visual Arts Programme produce a series of workshops, events and artist talks. These include Creative Takeover Days which bring artists into public libraries where their exhibition is located to run creative activities and workshops. These are free and open to all ages. You can find out when the next event is on here.
